Pirates End Their Season with a Loss to the Panthers

On Thursday, February 21st the Dodge Pirates boys basketball team traveled to Clarkson for the 2nd round of Sub-Districts. The Pirates were in for a tough, high-scoring battle against the Leigh Panthers. The game began with a close score, and the 1st quarter ended with the two teams tie, 17-17. By the end of the 2nd quarter, though, the Panthers had extended their lead by 15 with a score of 22-37. The Dodge Pirates came back out the next half, gave a great effort, but just couldn’t diminish the lead the Panthers had created. With the Pirates still down 40-54 at the end of the 3rd quarter, they used their determination to cut down the extent of the Panther’s lead. Even with he Pirates effort they just couldn’t stop Leigh, and ended their season with a loss and final score of 71-77. Lead scorers for the Pirates were Bryan Ruzek with 24 points, Adam Ortmeier and Chris Tomasek with 12 points, and Jacob Kreikemeier with 9 points.
