“How to” segments will replace Countdown to College Call-In Show on NET

As you are probably aware, EducationQuest has sponsored the annual Countdown to College Call-In Show on Nebraska Educational Television (NET) for the past nine years. This program featured financial aid and college planning experts who answered viewers’ questions on the air.

This year, we are replacing the program with two 10-minute segments on NET that will provide financial aid and college planning information in a brief, engaging format. The first segment is slated to run in early January on NET and will provide “how to” steps on completing and filing the FAFSA. We’ll provide more details about the programs as they are finalized.

We decided to discontinue the Countdown to College call-in format based on feedback from focus groups and surveys we conducted last spring. Nebraska parents told us they would prefer to receive financial aid and college planning information in a shorter and more engaging format – and we’re excited to do just that!

Four more College Fairs are scheduled for this fall:

Tri-State Area College Fair, Sunday, October 5, 1:00-3:30 pm – Marina Center - South Sioux City

Scottsbluff/Gering Area College Fair, Sunday, October 12, 1:00-3:30 pm – Gering Civic Center

Lincoln Area College Fair, Sunday, October 19, 1:00-3:30 pm – Southeast Community College

Omaha Area College Fair, Sunday, October 26, 1:00-4:00 pm – University of Nebraska-Omaha

For a list of colleges registered for the Fairs, visit EducationQuest.org.
