2009 BOOK FAIR A HUGE SUCCESS
By Carol Liekhus
February 23, 2009
The annual Scholastic Book Fair was held February 16 – February
19, 2009, which coincided with Parent-Teacher Conferences. Total
sales for the book fair reached $1972.20. This was the greatest
amount sold from any previous book fair. In exchange for holding
the book fair the school is entitled to receive free books. This
year, the Dodge Public Schools library earned books valued at
$782.05. Your support of the book fair greatly enhances our library
and our Accelerated Reader program.
Each year we are given a courtesy credit of $100.00. The book fair
was open each day from 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. On Wednesday the
book fair was open from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. in conjunction
with Parent-Teacher conference.
Elementary students had a “Guess how many candy hearts in the jar”
contest. Each classroom had a winner. There were a total of seven
winners who received a book.
For participating in the “Wish List”, the elementary teachers each
were given a resource book that will be kept in their respective
classrooms. These gifts were given with the courtesy credit that we
received.
We will also be given a voucher worth about $50.00 with which
reference materials will be ordered.
We would like to sincerely thank everyone who attended the book
fair.
