DODGE PIRATES TO ADVANCE TO FOURTH ROUND OF KTCH QUIZ BOWL

The Annual KTCH Quiz Bowl competition for the Pirates began on January 12th at 10:30. In the 1st round of competition, the Dodge Pirates Academic Team competed against the Osceola Bulldogs. The Dodge Pirates defeated them 2-0 in the match. Their second round of competition aired on January 26th at 10:30. They defeated the quiz bowl team from Winnebago High School 2-0. The team advanced to the 3rd round and defeated Newman Grove 3-1 on February 8 at 9:30 a.m. The team will take on the Huskies of Atkinson West Holt on February 14th at 9:30 a.m. If the Pirates win this match, they will advance to finals competition at Wayne State College for either the consolation round or the championship round.
Each match is single elimination and limited to three rounds. If one team is ahead after three rounds, they will move on in the competition. If the teams are tied, sudden death will begin. Sudden death rounds will continue until one team answers correctly and the other incorrectly. Each team has 15 seconds for discussion and the team captain gives the answer. The exception is math, with students getting 30 seconds to answer the question. The question can be repeated once when requested. One point is awarded for each correct answer. Competing teams will not be asked the same question.
The academic team is comprised of Cody Wisnieski, Kim Ruskamp, Brian Vodvarka and alternate Madison Novicki.
